Atacand Plus 32mg/12.5mg is a combination medication containing candesartan cilexetil (32mg) and hydrochlorothiazide (12.5mg).
It is used primarily to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
Candesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that works by relaxing blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily.
Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that helps reduce excess salt and water in the body by increasing urine output, which also lowers blood pressure.
This combination helps control blood pressure more effectively than either component alone, reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems.
The medication is taken orally, usually once daily, with or without food, as advised by a healthcare provider.
Common side effects may include dizziness, headaches, increased urination, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances (such as low potassium), and fatigue.
It is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney or liver impairment, anuria (inability to produce urine), hypersensitivity to any components, and during pregnancy.
