Acnecide 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Cream is a topical medication used to treat acne. It contains 5% benzoyl peroxide as the active ingredient, which effectively targets the bacteria responsible for acne. The cream is available in 40g tubes, and the 2*40g packaging provides a total of 80g.
Benzoyl peroxide works by reducing the number of acne-causing bacteria on the skin and helping to shed dead skin cells, preventing pores from becoming clogged. This action helps to reduce the formation of blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples.
The cream is applied directly to the affected areas once or twice daily, after cleansing and drying the skin. A thin layer should be applied to the entire affected area. It’s important to avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and other sensitive areas. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
Common side effects may include skin irritation, redness, dryness, peeling, and sensitivity to sunlight. To minimize irritation, start by applying the cream once daily, preferably in the evening, and gradually increase to twice daily if well-tolerated. Use of a non-comedogenic moisturizer can help alleviate dryness. Avoid excessive sun exposure and use sun protection during treatment.
Acnecide 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Cream is suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over. It is not recommended for use in children under 12 years old. If symptoms persist or worsen after several weeks of use, consult a healthcare professional.
