Description
Ceftriaxone 1g injection (Troge, Tro-Ceftriax) contains ceftriaxone, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin infections, abdominal infections, septicemia, meningitis, and gonorrhea.
Ceftriaxone works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, which leads to the death of susceptible bacteria. It is effective against a broad range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
The medication is administered by injection, either intramuscularly or intravenously.
Dosage depends on the type and severity of infection, typically 1g once daily or divided into two doses. The course and duration of treatment vary according to the infection and patient response.
Common side effects may include pain or inflammation at the injection site, diarrhea, rash, allergic reactions, and changes in blood or liver function tests.
Ceftriaxone is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to ceftriaxone or other cephalosporins. Caution is advised in patients with kidney or liver impairment. It should not be mixed or co-administered with calcium-containing solutions.
Medical supervision is required during treatment to monitor for adverse effects and to adjust dosage if necessary.
