Description
Cefuroxime 500mg tablets (Cefomax) contain cefuroxime, a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin infections, and Lyme disease.
Cefuroxime works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, causing bacteria to die. It is effective against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
The tablets are taken orally.
The usual adult dosage is 250-500 mg twice daily, depending on the type and severity of infection. Tablets should be taken with food to improve absorption and reduce stomach upset. Treatment duration is generally 7 to 10 days but may vary depending on the infection and patient response.
