Cefuroxime 500mg tablets (Skycef 500) contain cefuroxime, a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin infections, and certain types of Lyme disease.
Cefuroxime works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, which causes bacteria to die. It is effective against a broad range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
The tablets are taken orally.
