Cetirizine Tablet UK 14’s contains cetirizine hydrochloride, a second-generation antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms. It is commonly prescribed for conditions such as hay fever (allergic rhinitis), urticaria (hives), and other allergic skin reactions.
Cetirizine works by blocking the effects of histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergy symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the nose or throat.
The tablets are typically taken orally, once daily, with or without food.
The usual adult dose is 10 mg once daily. For children aged 6 years and older, dosing is generally 5 mg to 10 mg once daily depending on the severity of symptoms and doctor’s advice.
Common side effects may include drowsiness, headache, dry mouth, and fatigue. It has a lower risk of sedation compared to older antihistamines.
Cetirizine should be used cautiously in people with kidney problems and avoided if allergic to cetirizine or similar drugs. It may interact with alcohol or sedatives, increasing drowsiness.
