Description
CILOXAN EYE DROP contains ciprofloxacin, an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the eyes such as conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers. It belongs to the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics.
Ciprofloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial enzymes essential for DNA replication, thereby preventing bacterial growth and leading to the death of the bacteria causing the infection.
The eye drops are usually applied as 1 or 2 drops into the affected eye every 2 to 4 hours initially, then reduced to 4 times daily as the infection improves, according to the prescribing doctor’s instructions.
Common side effects may include mild eye irritation, burning, redness, or itching. Serious side effects are rare but may include allergic reactions or worsening eye symptoms.
CILOXAN EYE DROP is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics.
