Clavumed 1 g tablets are an antibiotic that contain the active ingredients amoxicillin and clavulanic acid.
Amoxicillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic that works by inhibiting the formation of the bacterial cell wall, which ultimately kills the bacteria. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that enhances the effectiveness of amoxicillin by blocking enzymes produced by bacteria that would otherwise make them resistant to the antibiotic.
