Description
Contra 72 is an emergency contraceptive used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sexual intercourse or failure of a regular contraceptive method. It contains the active ingredient Levonorgestrel.
Levonorgestrel is a synthetic hormone that works mainly by delaying or inhibiting ovulation, reducing sperm movement, and making it more difficult for a fertilized egg to implant in the uterus.
Contra 72 is available in tablet form and should be taken as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse, ideally within 12 hours, but no later than 72 hours. The treatment consists of a single dose containing 1.5 mg of levonorgestrel.
Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, breast tenderness, and fatigue. In rare cases, more serious side effects may occur. It is advisable to consult a doctor or pharmacist before using Contra 72, especially if you have existing medical conditions or are taking other medications.
Contra 72 is not intended for regular use as a contraceptive method and should not replace other routine methods of birth control.
