Metrolex F Suspension is a combination antibiotic suspension containing metronidazole and furazolidone, used to treat certain bacterial and protozoal infections.
**Primary Uses:**
– Treatment of giardiasis, amebiasis, bacterial vaginosis, and antibiotic-associated colitis.
**Drug Class:**
– Antibiotic and antiprotozoal agent.
**Mechanism of Action:**
– Metronidazole and furazolidone work by entering microbial cells and disrupting their DNA, leading to cell death and elimination of the infection.

– Children: 5-8 mg combined per kg body weight in divided doses with meals for 7-10 days, depending on the indication.
**Side Effects and Cautions:**
– Common side effects include nausea, metallic taste, abdominal cramps, and vomiting.
– Avoid alcohol during treatment and for at least 48 hours after completion to prevent adverse reactions.
