Neomidex Eye Drops are a combination ophthalmic solution containing neomycin and dexamethasone, used to treat bacterial eye infections and reduce associated inflammation.
**Primary Uses:**
– Treatment of bacterial eye infections.
– Reduction of eye inflammation, particularly after eye surgeries or in cases of conjunctivitis caused by organisms sensitive to neomycin.
**Drug Class:**
– Ophthalmic anti-infective and anti-inflammatory agent.
**Mechanism of Action:**
– Neomycin is an antibiotic that works by killing or preventing the growth of bacteria.
– Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid that decreases inflammation, which can reduce pain.
**Common Forms:**
– Sterile ophthalmic suspension (eye drops).
**Dosage Instructions:**
– Instill 1–2 drops into the affected eye(s) every 4 to 6 hours.
– In severe infections, the dosage may be increased to 1–2 drops every hour, followed by a gradual reduction as the condition improves.

**Side Effects and Cautions:**
– Possible side effects include burning or stinging sensation upon application, blurred vision, redness or irritation of the eye, increased sensitivity to light, and eyelid swelling or itching.

– Use with caution if you have a history of glaucoma or cataracts.
