Whitfield Ointment
Whitfield Ointment is a topical antifungal medication used to treat common fungal skin infections. It contains two active ingredients—Benzoic acid and Salicylic acid—which work together to help eliminate fungi and promote the shedding of infected skin cells.
Whitfield Ointment is commonly used for the treatment of: Ringworm (tinea corporis), Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), Fungal infections of the groin (tinea cruris), Mild fungal skin infections, and other superficial fungal infections of the skin.
The ointment is applied topically to the affected area of the skin, usually two to three times daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional. The affected area should be cleaned and dried before application.
Always follow the dosage and duration recommended by a healthcare professional to ensure the infection is fully treated and to prevent recurrence.
Some patients may experience mild side effects such as: Skin irritation, redness, peeling, burning sensation, or dryness at the application site.
If severe skin irritation, allergic reactions, or worsening of the skin condition occurs, medical attention should be sought immediately.
Do not use on broken skin, open wounds, or if you are allergic to salicylic acid or benzoic acid.
Inform your doctor if you have sensitive skin or are using other topical medications on the same area, as interactions may occur.
Continue using the ointment for the full recommended duration even if symptoms improve earlier.
Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C, away from direct sunlight, and keep out of reach of children.
