Description
Zestril Tab 5mg contains lisinopril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It is primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, and to improve survival after a heart attack.
Lisinopril works by relaxing blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow, reducing the heart’s workload.
The medication is available in tablet form, typically taken orally once daily, with or without food. The exact dose and duration depend on the condition being treated and patient response.
Common side effects may include cough, dizziness, headache, fatigue, and elevated blood potassium levels. Serious but less common effects can include swelling of the face or throat (angioedema), kidney problems, or allergic reactions.
Contraindications include a history of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor treatment, pregnancy, and severe kidney impairment. It may interact with other blood pressure medications, potassium supplements, or diuretics.
Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolytes is recommended during treatment with Zestril.
