Description
Buscolex Tab 10mg contains hyoscine butylbromide as the active ingredient.
It is used as an antispasmodic agent to relieve smooth muscle spasms in the gastrointestinal tract, biliary tract, urinary tract, and other organs.
The drug class is anticholinergic or antispasmodic.
Its mechanism of action involves blocking muscarinic receptors on smooth muscle cells, preventing acetylcholine from inducing muscle contractions, leading to muscle relaxation and reduction of spasms.
Buscolex is available in tablet form for oral administration.
The usual adult dosage is 10 mg taken two to three times daily, or as directed by a healthcare provider.
Common side effects may include dry mouth, dizziness, blurred vision, constipation, and rarely allergic reactions.
