Description
Caduet 10/10mg is a combination medication containing amlodipine besilate 10 mg and atorvastatin calcium 10 mg.
It is used primarily for the treatment of coexisting hypertension (high blood pressure) and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol levels) to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events.
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that works by relaxing blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Atorvastatin is a statin that reduces cholesterol production in the liver, helping to lower levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood while increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.
Caduet is available in tablet form for oral administration.
The usual dosage is one tablet once daily, but the exact dose and treatment regimen should be determined by a healthcare professional based on the patient’s condition and response to therapy.
Common side effects may include swelling (edema), headache, flushing, dizziness, muscle pain, or weakness. It is contraindicated in patients with liver disease, pregnancy, or known hypersensitivity to its components.
Use of Caduet should be under medical supervision with regular monitoring of blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and liver function.
