Paracetamol Syrup (Cetapol) contains paracetamol, an analgesic and antipyretic medication used to relieve mild to moderate pain and reduce fever.
Paracetamol works by inhibiting the formation of prostaglandins in the brain, chemicals that cause pain and fever, thus providing symptom relief.
Cetapol paracetamol syrup is an oral liquid formulation commonly used for children or patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets.
The usual dosage is based on the patient’s age and weight, typically 10 to 15 mg per kilogram of body weight every 4 to 6 hours, not exceeding four doses in 24 hours.
Side effects are uncommon but may include allergic reactions such as rash. Use caution in patients with liver impairment or chronic alcohol use due to the risk of liver damage with overdose. Avoid concurrent use of other paracetamol-containing products to prevent toxicity.
