Primolut Depot 250mg Injection is a medication containing hydroxyprogesterone caproate, a synthetic form of the hormone progesterone.
**Primary Medical Uses:**
– Prevention of preterm labor in women with a history of early births.
– Management of habitual and imminent abortion.
– Treatment of infertility due to corpus luteum insufficiency.
– Addressing primary and secondary amenorrhea.

**General Mechanism of Action:**
– Hydroxyprogesterone caproate mimics natural progesterone, regulating the menstrual cycle, maintaining pregnancy, and preventing premature contractions.

**Dosage Instructions:**
– For preterm labor prevention: 250 mg intramuscularly once a week, starting between the 16th and 20th week of pregnancy until the 37th week or birth.
– For habitual abortion: 250–500 mg intramuscularly once a week during the first half of pregnancy.
– For infertility due to corpus luteum insufficiency: 250 mg intramuscularly 3 days after ovulation.
– For primary and secondary amenorrhea: 250 mg intramuscularly on the 6th day of the cycle, followed by another dose on the 16th day, repeated over several cycles.
