Terazosin Capsules 2mg are medications used to treat high blood pressure and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

General Mechanism of Action:
– Terazosin works by relaxing blood vessels and the muscles in the prostate and bladder, which helps lower blood pressure and improve urine flow.
Common Forms:
– Oral capsules, typically 2 mg strength
Dosage Instructions:
– For hypertension: Start with 1 mg once daily at bedtime. The dose may be increased to 2 mg, 5 mg, or 10 mg once daily, depending on the patient’s response.
– For BPH: Start with 1 mg once daily at bedtime. The dose may be increased to 2 mg, 5 mg, or 10 mg once daily, depending on the patient’s response.
– The maximum recommended dose is 20 mg per day.
– Take the medication at the same time each day to help remember.
– If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered, unless it’s almost time for the next dose. Do not double doses.
Side Effects, Contraindications, or Interactions:
– Common side effects include dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, and headache.
– Serious side effects may include fainting, fast or irregular heartbeat, and priapism (a prolonged, painful erection).
– Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to terazosin.
– Use caution when combining with other medications that lower blood pressure.
– Alcohol may enhance the blood pressure-lowering effect of terazosin, increasing the risk of side effects.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
