Xarelto 10 mg tablets contain the active ingredient rivaroxaban, which is an oral anticoagulant classified as a direct factor Xa inhibitor. It is used to prevent and treat blood clots such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). It is also prescribed to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with certain heart conditions, including non-valvular atrial fibrillation.
Rivaroxaban works by selectively blocking factor Xa, a key enzyme in the blood clotting process, thereby reducing the formation of blood clots.
The tablets are taken orally, usually once daily with food to enhance absorption. Dosage and length of treatment depend on the specific medical condition and patient needs.
