Drug Class:
Cephalosporin antibiotic (second-generation).
Primary Medical Uses:
Used to treat bacterial infections such as ear infections, throat infections, sinusitis, chest infections (bronchitis, pneumonia), urinary tract infections, and skin infections.
Mechanism of Action:
Contains cefuroxime axetil, which is converted in the body to cefuroxime. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the destruction of susceptible bacteria.
